Wasn't sure if Mikohn/Aristocrat are touchy about this sort of thing.... if they aren't, I'll see what I can find out

Well Mikohn was sold off to Progressive Gaming about 3 years ago now. They focus more on RFID bet management systems now than progressives. They have a division that still make many of the large signs but for the most part the industry has moved towards plasma displays. The progressives are now inherient to the gaming platforms themsevles as opposed to an addon.

Can anyone tell me what manual covers the "linker" I posted pics of a couple pages back? Specifically, the connection between it and the CON1 would be nice. i've been through the CON1 manual, but there's no info there AFAIK.

its about page 10 of the Con1 hardware manual.

Check your email.

Found it, page 17 and 18. The problem was made worse by the harness for my CON1 having the pins for the controller-linker connection reversed on one end, that's why I couldn't get the comms up. Quick session with my connector tool and it's all good now! GK for you, good sir!.

Even mess.do works in attract mode! Need to fab a longer cable from the linker to the display itself, only about 18" there right now.

I had 60ft between the CON1 and one of my signs. No problems.
I also had to make a 6ft ribbon cable between the Cham44 and the sign.
I had put the controller in a closet and ran the ribbon cable to the sign which was a header around my bar.
I had expected problems, a few people advised me on chokes that might help.
Again no problems.

ARGH!!!

Everything works except odometer. Tried changing the odometer controls, tried changing flip rate, still increments immediately. Seems to be no way to change font on this, so it can't be that setting.

even had it scrolling <SADM from right to left, must be some arcane error I've never seen before.

About ready to call it a night.

Can't do Odometer in Travel mode. Need to do it in block mode.
Painting works the same way. Doesn't work in travel mode.

Also read the section on Fast and Slow. Normally the Odometer runs slow but when it gets xx coins behind it then jumps by larger increments in an attempt to catch up.....

So heres the trick.... push the fast value way up high so its always slow..... this is cool so when you stop playing you still see the odometer continue to increment.

Next Do some Travel Messages - "Visit our Excellent all day Buffet on the second level" Or some block mode messages like "Play Play Play" .... "MEGABUCKS" .... repeat in three colors so it appears to flash...."pot of Gold" fits nicely on a 1x2 as well......

Basically put up anything but the jackpot amount.

What you are doing is creating a backlog of play....and the odometer effects works from the last displayed value. So if you included the JP value in earlier messages your odometer effect only occurs from the last displayed value....and if you displayed current value...then your odometer is only going to show you the coins currently going into the machines....

Next do the jackpot token with the odometer effect..... you will want to do a slow speed command before this as well otherwise it won't hang around long enough to show the Odometer effect....

hope this helps....

I'll double check, but I'm pretty sure I'm not using travel mode for the JP display.

This is on my CON1/CHAMI not the Supreme, btw...

Thank you!! I suucessed.
My version of CON2 is 4.01.
I think we need the CHAMII+s have CSSA1.3.
If the version is CSSA1.3,we can use CHAMII+ has STA/ver1.61 and ver2.07.....
If the version is CSSA1.2,we can't use CHAMII+ has STA/2.05.STA/ver1.41......
The cable needs the connection only pin4 and pin5.
Thanks!!

Assuming you are using the CON2 to drive the CHAMII .... (as this will not work with a ChamII+ running standalone).

To get the message time out then within PSP
You go to Screen 2 - Jackpot Summary.
F3 is probably set to ------

Press F3 until you get it to change to MESG
Don't forget to hit F1 to SEND before you leave this screen
F10 to exit.

Post back and let us know how this worked out.

I try on both version PSP 2.00 and 2.03.But can't sucsess.
If I press F1 in "4.Message Programing" ,First,"Default Error check controller #1" was shown and second "Sending file XXXX.DO."was shown.
My CON2 was missing U4 chip.....

The display Scrolls through all of the files JPOT.DO, then JPOT1.DO, JPOT2.DO etc..... then repeats.

If MESS.DO is enabled this is a different message that displays after a min or so of non activity.
Worry about getting the standard messages working first.

The message you reported....
"Default Error check controller #1"

Typically means that the CON2 is NOT communicating with the CHAMII.
I wouldn't be surprized to find that the ChamII+ is still in standalone mode as opposed LINK mode and the $800 is not coming from the CON2

Can you use the CON2 to change the value from 800 to say 900 to prove that the interface is working.

I have a related question.Ê ÊYou start out with $800 so if you play the machine will the amount increment or not?Ê If you have a Supreme connected to the CON2 also, is it showing $800?Ê You are using PSP connected to the CON2 and not the CHAMII+?

And one other thing, pins 1 and 5 are jumpered on your serial cable?

Thank you for quick response.
>The display Scrolls through all of the files JPOT.DO, then JPOT1.DO, JPOT2.DO etc..... then repeats.
Can I display JPOT.DO files as demonstreation without JACK POT?
I check all files,JPOT1.DO,JPOT2.DO........

>The message you reported....
>"Default Error check controller #1"
This message was shown in only messeage programming page.
In Jackpot programming page,it wasn't shown.

>Typically means that the CON2 is NOT communicating with the CHAMII.
>I wouldn't be surprized to find that the ChamII+ is still in standalone mode as opposed LINK mode and the $800 is not coming from the CON2
In Jackpot programming page,if I chage amount of current value, the Display of CHAMII+ is chaged value too.
I think the CON2 comunicated to CHAMII+.

>Can you use the CON2 to change the value from 800 to say 900 to prove that the interface is working.
Yes,I can chage value of CHAMII+ display,900 or 999.......

Sorry my poor English.....

If you are using a straight serial cable without pins 1 and 5 jumpered to one another that is the reason you are getting that error message.

Hi All

I have been reading through the Mikohn Post's and have seen reference to a "Con1 hardware manual". Scratch Head

I'm getting a con1 with no wiring or power supply, and would like to know if this manual is still available. arrow

Thanks
