I am in need of a copy of the Mikohn CHAMII+ Manual.  If anyone could possibly sent it to me, it would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

I just got a CHAMII+ Controller and am trying to Color test an overhead display.  How do I accomplish this?
Also, I am trying to center the text using wordpad.  How is this done?
I am a beginner at this.  I have been a slot tech for two years and this is the first time I have had to do this.  No one that I ask can give me the answer.

I was able to make a cable to interface between my laptop and the CHAMII+ and it works quit well.  I have communication both ways.  My sign is 2 panels high by 3 panels wide.  How do I get my text to display, as a single line, in the center of the overhead sign?  I can make it appear in the top 3 panels or the bottom 3 panels, but not in the center.  Can someone please help?

Sorry, but on my previous post #851 I said I was using Wordpad.  It is acually Notepad.

A CHAM 2+ will not directly interface with a 2 X 3 sign panel. The CHAM 2+ are designed for the displays located behind the award glass of the machines.
Depending on what kind of overhead sign you have, you will need another driver/controller board for it, with the correct chip for the display size (i.e. 1x2, 1x3, 2x3 ...etc.).
If you have one of the popular older style SUPREME displays, you will need a Supreme controller board with a 2 X 3 chip on it.
There are also newer style 2 X 3 panels that would require different driver/controller boards.

I am currently looking into building a mikohn sign, I saw a pic in one of the game room  posts. I have attached the pic.
does any one know who's game room this is? Scratch Head
I am particularly interested in the smaller of the two signs and would like to know what hardware is inside, as I would like to try and build a sign of that size myself.
any info would be greatly appreciated yes

Thanks Wes :88

I would like to say that is one of my setups, but that would be a fib. I believe idesign was the original poster for that item and it is a 1X3 and 2X3 display along with the progressives in each machine and it is impressive.  Hail

Yes, that is my progressive setup.  1 X 3 and 2 X 3 above it.  The 1 X3 is made up of 3 Mikohn graphic panels wired in series driven by a Mikohn Supreme which is conected to a CON2.  All the machines were connected to the CON2.  The 2 X 3 is made of 6 panels in series driven by a Mikohn Supreme using 2 power supplies.

Thanks for the info,
Your setup is very impressive applause,

I was hoping your 1x3 was a CHAM44 setup, I currently have a 1x2 CHAM44 and would like to expand it to a 1x3

Maybe someone knows were I can get a 1x3 cham44, or as it's also called, LED4, eprom,

Thanks Wes

The Mikohn equipment that I have I got from April.

She only has a 1x2 CHAM44, not the 1x3 I'm looking for.

Westec,
I got my CHAM44(LED4) w/ a CON 1S  and 3-CHAM44(LED4) display panels going...it's kinda cool!
It turns out that the Version 7.15 eprom in it supports a "1x3".
Do you think you could rewrite/alter the PSPV2.0 program to allow us to display double height characters?

for example...the top half of the letter "A" scrolls right to left at "1" speed across the top "1x3", while the bottom half the the letter "A" scrolls right to left also at "1" speed across on the bottom "1x3"?

Or, perhaps ...fool the PSP into thinking that the "2x3" is a "1x3"?

It's not as easy as you may think, the PSP program is just an upload program for your files, it's the cham44 program that controles the display, while it is relatively easy to manipulate to add more panels it's a different story to modify the program to be double height.
When I get some spar time I plan on checking it out, but it wont be for a while.

Does your jackpot display come up in the middle of the three panels, or are you just using scrolling messages.

The Jackpot display comes up in the middle...if I want, I CAN "left" or "right" justify where I want the jackpot display to come up...that's only a matter of slightly changing the "JPOT.DO" configuration in the "Message Programming" options. yes

I HAVE been fooling around with the "JPOT.DO" configurations- however, you do not want to drastically change it too too much or your display comes out WAY     TOO     BIG    !     ttth

It seems that if you change the JPOT.DO to try and make it do something crazy....it displays everything as double spaces between the characters      no  ......however, it would be fine though - if you have about 20 more LED4 panels Tongue Out

My way of thinking is this:
There MUST be a different, perhaps an more recent/updated,  PSP version out there somewhere , (other than the V2.0) , that would be able to use double height,and/ or larger characters.

I agree that it's fairly easy to link these panels together and make the total displays longer.
But then I questioned myself and thought why are the physical CHAM44 (LED4)  led panels capable of interlocking, both top and bottom height-wise as well as length-wise... Scratch Head

Maybe it was cheaper bulk-wise for Mikohn to purchase LED squares this way? I dont know...
I wonder if Mikohn had designed a chip /or PSP program to drive larger displays with a CHAM44?
I find it hard to believe that Mikohn would make/purchase/sell these types of LED panels and not use the full capabilities of them. Scratch Head

However, having said that - I think it's kind of like my first car I bought.....the junky thing had NO options whatsoever!
If I had given the used car dealer a few more bucks, maybe he'd install a radio in the space on the dash panel - instead of the plastic knock-out covering up the hole. Tongue Out

One of the options in PSP is to do double wide letters. There is no option under the Con1 to double high.

What I found out so far is that the Con1 downloads the message into the Cham44 when you press the F1 in PSP.
When you are then in run mode, the message does what the message does but the jackpot token value gets updated about 6 times a second.
SO if you had 2 displays you could program each with a different message then hook them up to the same CON1 and the Jackpot value stays the same on both.
You could stack two displays in a 2x3 configuraton - drive each row with its own cham44.

We have found how to modify the code for both the 7.15 and 7.22 so we can make the display as long as we want.

The modification to the length is simply a one byte change. Ozzy put me on to this a long time ago. However no one could actually remember what byte and the Mikon guys told me it was possible but were not allowed to tell me due to laws. It wasn't until we had a couple of chips that were at different lengths and simply did a hex compare that we found this.

It is conceviable that there is actually two bytes like 01 03 or 01 02 and we might be able to change this to 02 02 and do the 2 x 2.

IF this was to work then I would suppose that the scroll up and scroll down commands might move around the full display but as mentioned before there is nothing in the programming to suggest you could select which panel it would display on. The only thing I could see happening is that everthing just scales twice as large but thats a long shot.

Wes are you able to do some experimenting with this ?? as my toys are still in dry dock.

I won't be able to spend any real time on this until March, due to Christmas, and then out to Vancouver for the Telecommunications setup's, for the world cup events.
when I get back I will see what I can figure out. If it's possible I would think you will also need a special ribbon cable to connect the displays together.

I am sure the ribbon cable would be the same, just longer, to stretch from the far top right to the bottom.

I'm hoping someone can help me to download the graphics files from my Mikohn Supreme Display.

The cable I'm using has pins 2, 3 & 5 connected straight through and pins 1 & 5 shorted at the display end.
I'm using an Asus Laptop with a DB9 Com Port running Windows XP Pro. The Com port is set at 9600, 8, None, 1, Xon/Xoff
The software I'm using is the Mikohn Download program. Not exactly sure of the version but it's an early one.
Everytime I run the download program it fails to read the files from the display. I just get a Time-out error.
If I run Hyperterminal I can see the sign go through its startup sequence, so I'm am getting some sort of communications but not with the download program.
Any help with this would be much appreciated.

I'm also after a copy of the Mikohn Download for Windows v2.0 User Manual PN. 990-241-18
Or, if anyone has the latest version of the download program with a graphics editor that would also be appreciated

Cheers
Pete

Hi all,

I have a few Mikohn controlers CON1, Gateway, CON2, ChamII and ChamII+ but its in use in machines with different Mikohn displays.
The guy that works with this conntrolers is in pensions.
I'm new with this controlers and I need any instructions manuals, service manuals, schematics for it.
What is the difference about the displays?
I have the program PSP for DOS, manual for ChamII+ but for the older controlers I don't have anything.
Exist software for Windows? If exist wher can I found it or anyone can send it to me?
Can anyone help me found this manuals, schematic, etc. for controlers and displays.
I'm from Slovenia (Europe) in Europe Mikohn don't exist any more, has been purchased from Progressive Gaming International and they don't have support for Mikohn products anymore.

I appreciate any yours help.

Thanks.

You may have to manually reset the jackpot.
It may of not be configured to automatically reset in the beginning?
