Some people collect old parking meters. Here are some resources for antique parking meters:

http://www.ionet.net/~luttrell/index2.html

http://www.pom.com/

http://www.mackaymeters.com/

http://duncansolutions.com/duncanindustries/support/downloads/downloads.htm

This document is good for rebuilding old meters:

Here's a picture (borrowed to illustrate my point) of how an old parking meter such as a Duncan is displayed. A short piece of cast iron pipe holds it nicely.

I saw a parking meter in the bushes once with money in it! Did not pick it up as I thought it might be a police sting!

Yeh, that's probably exactly what happened. We had a rash of those thefts several years ago in my locality.

Anyway, for those that need parts for old parking meters, Duncan still sells parts for their meters. There's a few sellers on ebay making reproduction parts like dome lenses and flag decals. Just type "parking meter" into ebay's search box.

If I can find a parking meter, you think I can trick her into trading your new "BIRD" for it??? OK OK, don't you give me the BIRD!!! You know the American Sign Language F muted U BIRD!!! I was just joking!

Was the pawn shop pricing as good as the shed pricing? You find all the good deals!  yes yes yes

This, of course. sparked my interest...
I called all four pawn shops in a 200 mile radius of my home...
nobody had a slot...or parking meters for that matter.
They each told me about the nice stereos,
DVD players, golf clubs and guitars they had for sale though....lol
I think only the pawn shops in Nevada have slots... hissy fit
I should start a new topic called >>> "What's in Your Local Pawnshop?"... bust gut laughing

There is a pawn shop near me. I asked if he would buy a slot machine from me for resale. He said that no one would be intrested and "Arent they illegal?" So you see, not everyone is gung-ho like we are at NLG! Every time I bring the subject up to someone, they think it's a "cute" idea but could never see themselves doing it, wonder why????

Do you run your meters on tokens or quarters?

Looks like an RCA "Old Style" junction box and two "CBX" (RCA knockoff) drive-in speakers.

I worked at several drive-ins for 20 years as service tech repairing speakers and amplifiers.

I have recently been given our cities original parking meters (Duncan Miller and Miller Meter - Early 40s).  Well over 200 full meters and about 15 boxes full of brand new mechinisms (all different models) I would say at least 500 of them.  I see that there is a slight demand for them but not in the quantity that I have.  Any ideas on who would be interested in such an over whelming amout of parking meters and mechanisms. Help
Thanks

Some of the members of the video arcade game collectors forum would likely buy some of your parking meters/parts. Suggest joining those forums and posting a message there too:

Be sure to mention I sent you.
