Just curious though about your statement about it displaying progressives.  If you don't have it hooked up to a controller, what does the progressives do?

Sits there and shows $0.00, in any color and any font I choose in the PDF maker.

Heck, I can even configure it to show up to 6 different progressive amounts, all showing $0.00 in different colors and fonts!

Why don't you use it as a graphics sign if you don't have a contoller to connect to it?  It will work fine as a stand alone sign.  Is your Supreme a 1 X 3?

yes, it's a 1x3. The above sounds good, but I have nothing in the way of graphics for it. There was a CD floating around the board a few months ago with graphics files, but I can't seem to track anyone down who might have a copy.

Also, Autodesk Animator (needed to generate .flc files to be converted by the flc2mik tool) is no longer available, not sure of what other tool there is as I don't have access to the registered user portion of the Mikohn site.

I have a gameking as well and tried it there but when I installed it the only thing on the specturm screen is "No Data" 

Bummer on the slowdown.   Do you have the newer touchscreen controller with the 3M square 12 pin connector?

Hi i'm new around here.  First i have to say this place is a great resource for all kinds of gaming machines.  I have a pe+ and have the double double with 3 aces bonus on it.  I see in the settings screen that i can set all the higher hits to progressive with the proper hardware.  I assume for my machine i need a con1? do i need anything else?  Also i'm looking for the PSP Software.  Can anyone help out a newbie?  Thank you in advance.

Well.....

If you have only one machine you would be best off to get a ChamII+ (note the plus) for your PE+
The Plus indicates it is a standalone controller....

The CON1 is a link controller (I have one) that is used to interconnect several machines.
In my configuration I have 3 S+'s and a PE+ all sharing the same progressive.

Getting down to the nitty gritty.... (and the reason for my recommendation).

When you connect up the CON1 to the S+ or PE+ it uses two wires which is connected to a four pin connector on the motherboard of the S+ or PE+
The two pins are Common and Coin In. When a credit is bet it creates a momentary contact and increments the progressive amount.
On the S+ that is good enough. On the PE+ what you get displayed on the screen instead of the 4000coin top award is the word JACKPOT.

What you really want is the progressive value..... which requires one more connection which is the data-in (also called data-loopback). The CON1 does not have this but the ChamII+ does. The ChamII+ also has a small LED display which in the case of the S+ gets mounted behind your glass or on the PE+ does not need to be used - however commonly it is mounted in a slot topper or put in top box.

To get a small display with a CON1 you need a LED5 or Cham1 (same device different name) controller to drive the display. If you take a look at the restoration pictures I hacked in a small display in each of my S+ units. You can also use a LED4 controller also known as a Cham44 to drive a large over head display. Note the flying saucer project in the restoration pictures. LED= Link Extension device.

In order to get my PE+ to display the value on the screen. I used a device called a gateway. This takes the output of the CON1 that is meant to drive the LED5 and then outputs that third line of data.

So in short to get a progressive on the PE+ using a CON1 you would also need a Mikohn gateway.

Cost wise the ChamII+ (complete) will run you about $75-$115
The CON1 will run you $180-$350 depending on how many machines it is designed to support
The LED5 will run you $50-$150 (Leemans slot sales has one up for $50 right now)
The Gateway will run you $75-$150 if they are available.

ok so as i understand it, if i get a chamII+, then i don't need a gateway or anything else as that will do the job of everything for the progressive?  also would you or anyone be able to email me the PSP software to program a ChamII+?
does anyone have one for a good price(ChamII+) ?

Hi,

Sorry for stupid question, earlier in this thread I was told that the battery for the Cham2+ is a 3v v2020.

My question:

Does it have to be this battery or could you use any 3v, or for that matter 2 x 1.5v AA's provided you change the battery holder of course!

Is there a wattage issue or am I talking complete rubbish

3v dc is 3v dc no matter how you supply it.  You could solder in a AA battery holder and you would be good to go.  The reason for using the smaller battery is just an issue of space saving.  Also the watch batteries are designed for slow drain devices so they last a while, the AA might need to be changed more often.

Con2A and Con2AF use 4 input wires for coin-in information and a separate bi-directional serial port for certain machine protocols.  Everybody else uses this as either RS-232 or RS-422 input for their progressive setup.  The "F" is fiber optic linked.

Con2I and Con2IF use 1 input wire for coin-in information.  This is what IGT uses for their machines.

Ok, I need someone to check my logic here:

The hookup from the CON2 to the S+ uses pin 3 and pin 4 on the machine side and pin 1 and pin 9 on the controlller side, so we have S+ pin 2 to CON2 pin 1, and S+ pin 3 to CON2 pin 4, correct? 

After further review, I can't find the correct pinout for the CON2 standalone J1 machine input connector. The standalone doesn't have a 40 pin connector for machine input, instead it has a 10 pin. Machine input starts at pin 9 on the 40 pin connector, so I can try pin 9 and 10, hopefully one of them will work. As far as the other pins, a little deduction leads me to believe that:
IGT                                  CON2
pin 2      Serial Return         J3 pin 1
pin 3      Common              J1 pin 1   
   

Seems kind of strange to have the machine input harness use 2 different connectors, but it's conceivable. 

From the Con2 to the Supreme, we use J5 on the Con2 side and J4 on the Supreme side, and these are wired
1-1
2-2
3-3
4-4
5-5
6-6

In other words, straight through, correct?

Got all my connectors and cabling, hoping to make it sit up and beg tonight. Just don't want to   anything.     

One of my 2 IDC connectors is for a lot heavier gauge wire than the other one, I'll have to swap it tomorrow for the right one.

Time to call it a night, got a couple soccer games tomorrow.

Here's how to embed it in a post here.  Take the YouTube embed code -- for your video, it looks like this:

Copy the URL part that I bolded from that code (either place -- it's the same URL in both places) -- that's the only part you need to (and can) use.

Then, on a new post or a reply to a thread, click the "Insert Flash" () button.

That will insert the following code in your post:

Change the 200,200 to the desired dimensions of the video.  In the embed code from YouTube you can see that it's 425,350.  You could also make the video window smaller by adjusting those numbers downwards.  Paste the video URL in between the "flash" brackets.  Your end result should look like this:

Cool, never knew what that button was for.

Hmmm, something happened during the capture or transcoding, it's no longer 16:9 aspect ratio. I'll have to track that down.

Hi,
Nice site.
Say, we found an old Tandy 102, and it has the Mikohn rom.
Does anyone remember how to call up the rom?
Batteries were dead, & I remember you go into basic and type in a call command, but I can't remember the call.
I'm sure that info is already somewhere here on your site, but I'm at work and don't have time right now to look for it.
Tho' I will later of course, as I'd like to get the time to really explore your site.
