The seller updated the information on these CON2's.  These are stand alone CON2's meaning the traces on the pc side of the board are cut and there are a ton of jumpers.  The photo in this auction shows that connector J1, which is normally a 40 pin connector, has been replaced with something like a 20 pin connector limiting the use of this controller.  It can be modified back to it's original confirgation but that project would not be for the faint at heart.

Now you guys got me curious about the whole inbetween board that would allow you to hook up other machines to a CON2I!!!!

If those boards are available and they worked I could finally get a game/test room hooked up and I could finally get back to playing with my now dusty progressive toys!      That would be cool as I could maybe then hook up several IGT's, and a Bally, and a WMS dotmation, and a Sigma Treasure Tunnel! The other machines would not have individual meters/progressives, but they could at least provide coin in to the big progressive. It could be my own Wide Area Progressive, I will call it MARKBUCKS
, as I already used MICROBUCKS
in another post somewhere on the site! I think it would qualify as WAP since some machines are upstairs, and some are currently downstairs!!!

I will watch and see what is discovered. Thanks all!

IAD has lots of parking space........I'm 7 minutes away from there (by car that is).  You can visit the Air and Space Museum while you are out there and check out the Blackbird and the Space Shuttle.

Are you referring to a Bally Mastercomm 250 by any chance?
I Can not remember the name... but it was a Mikohn manual.........and If I remember right....it was a bally unit. I will find it sometime this weekend.  And Ozzy's right!!!........everything on the Bally units are opposite the IGT's, switching ground instead of positive.........just like Fords positive switching and Chevys negative switching. Looking at the schematics it should work! Now that's COOL!!!
As to standalone.........I have not changed my unit (CON2I Standalone) and have 6..........soon to be 7.....IGT's all linked on the same coin in and they work fantastic!  Even hitting several machines at the same time rarely fools the CON2 which operates at hyper speed compaired to the coin in signal on the S+ units. I have continually triggered all 6 machines for 15 min plus...many at the same time....and both 2 and 3 coin in.....and at the end of 15 min.......well............when the displays finally catch up after 15 min..........they are on the money or just a couple of coins off. I have them set to .25 so it is really easy to figure. All on the same line in.
Off to the Woodshop......................later...Tim

Tim, I thought you are running the machines in Stand Alone becuase you can't get the CHAMII+ to communicate with the CON2.  So none of the in machine dsiplays are synced.

Getting back to the CON2 story of the possible compatability with S+, any of you guys got the hardware to try out the suggestion of swopping GND with COIN IN. Am not a big poster in the Mikohn section, due to being out of this part of the game for 2 many years, main involvement is S+ and CON" I" s in the casinos where \I do the service contracts I have.

Let me know the outcome of any tests that are carried out.........................................................................................

Cheers

Wow, anybody need a dozen LED dispays?  Looks like some of the NLG crowd are already on top of them.......

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=6285868669&rd=1&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWA%3AIT&rd=1

Ok folks, I really need them......Joey pointed them out to me and I jumped immediately! Have been looking for displays to complete partial sets that I have for a while now!!! Alot better than buy 1 here and there with alot of freight costs. I just hope that I do not get sniped in the end by some non-friendly non-NLG folks! (Landrockets     Has anyone every figured out who this buying everything guy is???) Thanks for the notice about them as well Jeff.

I can not keep up with deep pocket Capt. Happy >Ray {vrlt11}I think this is our landrocket with a long fuse.
After filling up my Cessna today (87 gal of 100 LL) at 3.98 a gallon   I think I will stay out of this one. Let's see....a dozen displays...all linked together...thats 180 inches............Nope.....could just go down one wing only. And I would look like the Goodyear Blimp.      Nah..........It's yours Cap!   Tim

Oh man..... My desperacy has triggered a flood of posts!!!!!  Great.... more post, more posts, more posts.... Great for the board.       Humor, technial questions, answers, asnwers to lifes many misteries, etc... all are good... Come on everyone jump in and have fun! Joey was wondering last night as there was 12 or so hours with no post... he thought the board was down!!! He called me to do a test post since he knows I have no life, and sleep at weird times.

Thanks to all of my great buddies on the site! Also the "elusive and super secret" Landrockets (really not me Ray! Still a mystery!) emailed me via ebay with a go ahead I'm safe! Very nice of them. Also sorry to Ray {vrlt11}, I think I must have stepped on you (?) in my excitement of seeing a large amount of displays that I was desperately seeking to complete sets of other parts. I did not look at the bidders, I just shot out a figure.  I have trouble remembering everyones ebay to NLG crossover, especially when I am tired, desperate and excited and barely look. Rick I will not touch your display bid, I guess that is another of the names hard to associate NLG to ebay. Maybe we need a FAQ link at top.... "Ebay Names of Nlg Members Cross Reference!" HA HA

And Finally:

Ozzy, your dogs are looking really thirsty..... Did you crawl around the house in a drunken stupor and drink all of the VODKA out of their doggie bowls???

same seller has a lot of 2.  My buddy Ninja66 is bidding on them for me,  pleaaaseee I need them to complete two setups that are missing the display.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=6285778793&rd=1&sspagename=STRK%3AMEBI%3AIT&rd=1

Rick, the lot of 2 is actually 1 complete display as I understand it.  It's the LED display plus the piggy back board.  That's the way the lot of 24 are described too.......actually only 12 total displays.  Better check with the seller though.

Can someone lookup what Diode goes into D2 in the ChamII+ logic board.  Mine burned up (don't ask) and I can't make out the id through all the charred plastic.

Tim,

Welcome back... Wondered why things were so quiet in Progressive land!!! Joey was wondering why the posts were slow in happening! HA HA HA...      I have been on the road most of the past month, and now I am trying to catch up with life, but the warehouse is stuffed full of way-cool goodies, so the multiple trips were worth all of the time, sweat, exhaustion, and effort!!!!!     I did get a chance to visit Joey for a few days, and take over command of the NLG Command Center when he was sleeping!!!!! You missed the fun post on the welcome wagon. I am walking on eggshells though as I think there is supposedly a retalatory digital picture of me on a couch that will surface soon if I cannot manage to bid enough on it to get the original file!!! I have offered $1million Monopoly Money, but I think the offer was laughed at!!!

Hope you had a great and fun time.... Fill us in on the fun facts.... Did you go Tim Air, first class of course???

Tim Air..............THE....Only way to fly!     I have not been in an airliner since I got my private. I logged 27.6 hours........half of them in actual IFR (Instrument flight rules) conditions in the clouds. Even took my 8 month old grandson up to a fly in diner for breakfast. Who needs a wife when you have your own aircraft! But ....I sure could use a stewardess as a co-pilot!!   That way when I take passengers she could give the passenger briefing....."This is your captain (me) speaking....please observe the no smoking sign and keep your seat belts fastened at all times and seats in the upright position during take off and landing. We will be cruising at 11,000 feet at 187 mph. ........and if you look out your right window you can see Jay's giant round progressive sign !!"

Well...............back to the salt mine today..........         Tim

if you have chamI's you need a con1 controller to feed it the progressive information.  If you have a cham2, you need a con2 for the progressive to work.  If you have a cham2 Plus, you can program the progressive information with the PSP program.  First verify that you do have a cham2 plus, if you don't they are all linked units and require a controller.  They might have worked on the past as the iformation from the controllers that were attached to them might still have been held up with the cap.

The EMPTY message shows up when there is no message in them.

Generally speaking the CHAM1s are link controlled. We believe we have seen 1 non-link unit on ebay but we are not really sure if it was fact or simply a case of mistaken identity.

The LINK units don't speak directly to PSP or to a PC despite the precence of a serial interface. To program these you would need a CON1.

IF these were working in the machine per Ricks Post then the progressive amounts would not have been climbing. You customers would have been choked at that...

The CHAM2s that are commonly found in machines are standalone although there are link models of these also. If these have lost their messages its possible you will have to go in and reprogram in the display settings  before PSP will speak to it. Noting that on the PSP menu you will have to choose OLDER vs CON1 or CON2.

Howdy!    Well..........I just figured out how to open and use the storyboard files!  The CD has more of these than the graphic MIK files on it and the story book pic files are easy to modify......which opens up the path to writing our own graphic stuff and using our own pictures on the 1 X 3's and 2 X 3's. It's simple!  Just pick a story .....lets say "win a car".........................load all picture files (pic.) with that name and or load all the ones that are in that group. Be sure to load the storybook files relating to it...the SH~ files. Then using the background.bat maker on the downloader simply list the story in the storybook setting without the SH. on the end (it adds it for you)...and WA-LA!    I have Caesars palace quarters running on my 2 X 3 right now. COOL
And the best part is they use a much smaller RAM space than a compairable MIK graphic file.

Tim,

Forgive my memory, or more likely the lack thereof...... But, did I read that you have 2x3 running now?  Did you manage to put 2 1x3's together, or did you just go for it and find a 2x3??? I may have known that you got one, but my mind draws a blank right now??? That tells me I have been working too hard, and I need to play harder!!!!!
