Ok so leave the Jack1-4.do alone, Noted, got it.  Now for Jpot.do that one I can mess with.  do I just put text in there? Do i have to start a paragraph first? what elements do I need in order to make it display text on Idle?

Thanks

What I did was to look at #7 "demo". There you can see several examples of command structure.
Another note, for some strange reason my jpot.do will not load unless I load it right after a power up of the ChamII.
Statfreak pointed this trick out to me, I think he had the same problem.

But now the next problem: I want to connect it to my Game Maker in Handpay Mode. When i go into the "Communication Test" and press "Send Coin" everything is ok. But when i press "Send Jackpot" the Cham2 only counts a little bit up, but no "Jackpot xxxx,xx changing with Current xxxx,xx" !!??

When you find out let me know, and vice versa!!

Seriously, I am having the same experience with my Bally Pro Slot. There was a mode that did trigger the JP in testing, but it was not the correct one for normal operation with the ChamII+  . So I have mine set as it is supposed to be set, and no confirmation in testing that the JP will trigger (My test results were the same as yours). I even asked Ozzy about it and he didn't have an answer.

I have a custom Blazing 7's machine, so the good news is that hitting a JP is fairly easy - 1 in 4913. All I can do at this point is play the heck out of it until I hit the JP    and when that happens I will report back whether it triggered the progressive or not. I will probably post in my "Statfreaks machine upgrades and other ramblings" thread.

However, since you have a different machine, my results may not confirm whether yours will work when a real jackpot hits.

If anyone else has an answer to this puzzle for either machine please post!

something like this
start paragraph
motion you want travel, etc
speed token and number
color command
text
start paragraph
motion
speed token
color command
jackpot token and 8

take a look at your current jpot.do and you can add text in front of current stuff. just make sure you insert it in front of everything there
include the start paragraph.
I experimented with what i wanted to say, and just put dummy text for the progressive value until I was happy with what I wanted and changed that paragraph

yes you must make it 2 paragraphs or more to get it work reasonably well.

some have done

block
text they want to display besides progressive value
block
progressive
progressive
progressive

repeating the the progressvie block a number of times to get the progressive amount to display for the time they wanted it to show.

someone once said each speed setting of 9 lasts about 9 seconds, I cant remember though if that is what I read.

It came out to a bit less than 9 seconds maximum for me. This is one of the examples of which I wrote earlier where the amount of the delay does not jive with the instructions.

I did exactly what Foster describes in his post. I repeated the jackpot paragraph several times in-between single paragraphs of text messages so that the jackpot amount is displayed most of the time.

I just wanted to add one line to Foster's example:

start paragraph
motion
speed token
color command
odometer command    <---  Just a note that if you want the meter to scroll odometer style, you need this command as well.
jackpot token and 8

One more thing that I discovered: You can have a maximum of 31 paragraph commands (not paragraphs - paragraph commands) If you add a 32nd command everything after that will be ignored and you will get a long stream of garbage characters at the end of your message cycle. (The garbage characters will be the same regardless of what is placed in the file after the 32nd paragraph command. It is the command itself that overflows the buffer and causes the display of text from code memory instead of the file memory) The actual number of total characters in the file does not matter (at least I have not reached it's maximum) This unfortunately places a practical limit on the total time of a complete "cycle" of the file data, and necessitates some planning regarding the pacing, placement, and number of messages used in the file.

I still for the life of me can't get the messages to show up on Idle. just shows the jackpot with the flashing numbers.  I guess I'm doing something wrong.  I start the PSP, go down to "old", type in the password, got to messageing, go to "Jpot.do" then type in everyting you told me to type.  I uploaded it. and nothing.

Maybe my ChamII+ is broken in messageing.  I'll have to wait till I get my other ChamII+.  Which by the way, Foster, any update on the SpectrumII?  If you are going to keep it let me know.

Have you tried to send "jpot.do" right after a power up? (When the bootup is done )
If not, try it. That's the only way it works for me.
Also, on the controller, do you have your MFILE = 0 ?
MFILE must equal zero for "jpot.do" to work.

Just a note on the idle message. There is an option on PSP that says MSG or NONE. It needs to be on the MSG setting.

Ok, I have the Mfile set to 5 because I like the way the numbers are diffrent colors, and change colors.  Will I loose that color on the #'s?  and Where do I find the Msg or none option?

Thanks

I think it is on screen 2.  Its the same screen where you set sngl or mult controllers.

The setting is defaulted to --- and pressing one of the function keys changes it to msg.

Sorry I am not being more descriptive but I am at the office and don't have PSP loaded here.

The short answer is yes, because you are overriding the simplified display option 5 in favor of your custom display in MFILE 0.
However, you can set the colors any way you like in each separate paragraph that you create in your file, so the long answer is NO, IF you program the color command that way in your jpot.do file's jackpot token paragraphs.

MFILE 5 uses the Paint color command. That's where the numbers are all one color at any moment, and the new color comes down from the top.

MFILE 4 is an example of the Dance color command. That's where the numbers are all different colors and they cycle from color to color. This one is my personal favorite.

Just remember that you need to set the color you want for each paragraph, and you will need several paragraphs in a row to get the jp numbers to display for a long enough period of time between message paragraph(s) coming up. You can try some simple tests (create a simple message paragraph and one jp paragraph, and then make changes to them) to get a feel for how it will come out.

Just remember to unplug the ChamII+ and re-boot it EVERY TIME before sending your new file. This gets to be a PITA very quickly   but it is necessary.

Another tip:

Don't forget to add the odometer command to every jackpot paragraph if you want the numbers to scroll. The weird thing is that the speed of the odometer will still be controlled by the setting in the ChamII+'s menu using the switches. There is no way to control the scroll speed from the file.

Also, my personal observation is that if you change from paint to dance color or vice versa from one paragraph to the next, it will reset the odometer (it will just jump directly to the correct value and then start scrolling again). If you stick with the same color command, the odometer just keeps scrolling when the new paragraph starts.

Using the CON1 the odometer speed is set in PSP. There is a screen that sets how far the odometer can fall behind. There is a slow med and fast setting.... so say under 25c you can set it slow, $1.00 - $5.00 set it med and over $5.00 set it to fast.... I like to have the "big" casino feel so I set my slow catchup to be $100.00 behind. That way when I finish playing I can still see the odometer roll for the next 30min or so just as if there were other linked customers.

A couple of other things to remember is that different commands work in block mode vs travel mode. For instance you can't give the scroll vertical command during travel. The paint command wants to paint the whole message also during travel, but dance works good in either mode.

Well, I got the Messages working (sort of).  I thought there was a setting some where that I read on the forum, that will only let the messages scroll when there has been no input from the slot machines.   Also for some reason I add the Flash comand, and my one part of my message doesn't flash.  I have looked at the DEMO code, and replicated the code exactaly, but still no luck.  My Mfile=0. so I don't know what is wrong.

Messages when idle only work when it's linked to a con2.
As far as the flash command, there are some situations where different attributes are not compatible (for example dance and flash in the same block).  You may want to start a new block just before the part of the message that flashes, so that it cancels the previous attribute.

The con2s are expensive but if you do have the funds to go upmarket they will communicate with the ChamII+ by putting it into link mode.

The Con1 is much less costly but you would need a LED5 and a display which basically replaces what you arleady have with the ChamII.

Here are your 3 basic configurations and some ball park prices
Con2--->ChamII --> Display   $1200-$1500
Con1--->Led5 ---> Display   $300-$400
ChamII+ --> Display           $75-$150

The Con1 and Con2 basically manage the muliple machine link.....and you get some added features such as the idle messages.

Don't know if it will help, but you can download manuals from their site.

yes, the unidesa machine is working. it is a model 300er series video slot, model "Tumble",year 2000 i guess. Until now i´am only searching for the right connector to connect it with the cham2 (by 2 cables: coin in and common). In the user manual of the unidesa it seems to me as if i need a special progressive controller...? I can´t believe this, because i think this machine must have a connector to connect it with the cham2 directly (like in bally machines for example). At the PCB there is a connector "P103" named "Jackpot" with 4 pins ... is this perhaps the connector i need??

YES YOU DO NEED A CONTROLLER YOU CANT JUST PLUG A DISPLAY INTO A MACHINE .
IF ITS A 3000 SERIES IT SHOULD HAVE A INTERNAL PROGRESSIVE . THAT CAN BE SET UP ON YOUR DISPLAY OPTIONS
ITS DISPLAYS ON THE LOWER PART OF SCREEN WHERE YOUR CREDITS ARE . SMALL IN SIZE BUT IT WRKS FINE

BUT FIRST YOU NEED TO GO INTO OPTIONS ON THE MACHINE .
THEN GO INTO JACKPOT PROGRESSIVE DISPLAY

IF YOUR MACHINE HAS THE CORRECT SOFTWARE /MPU BOARD .?? IT WILL DISPLAY "'OWN"-"" MIKOHN""-TWO OTHERS I CANT REMEMBER RIGHT NOW
THEN YOU HAVE TO SET UP THE DIP SWITCHES TO WHAT THE MACHINE TELLS YOU . ITS QUITE EASY BECAUSE THE DISPLAY ON
YOUR VIDEO SCREEN ACTUALY TELLS YOU WHICH DIPS TO MOVE FOR WHAT PROGRESSIVE YOU USE .

NOW JUST A OPINION IF YOU GO INTO THE OPTIONS MENU AND IT DOES NOT SAY "OWN " PROGRESSVE
MIKOHN PROGRESSIVE ETC ETC . THAT MEANS THAT MACHINES MPU BOARD DOES NOT EXCEPT ANY TYPE OF PROGRESSIVE !!

NOTE:IF THE MACHINE CAN EXCEPT A PROGRESSIVE DISPLAY .  IF THE MACHINE IS SET FOR"" FREE PLAY "" NO COIN /TOKEN IN.
WHICH ALOT ARE FOR HOME USE .I DONT THINK YOUR PROGRESSIVE WILL WORK .I NEVER TRIED THAT OR READ THE MANUAL
BECAUSE COMMON SENSE WOULD SAY IF A CASINO HAS A MACHINE SET ON PROGRESSIVE & ON FREE PLAY WHATS THE POINT ??
I DONT THINK UNIDESA WOULD DESIGN A MACHINE FOR THAT USE ..

TRY THE SET UP MENU FIRST SEE IF THE MACHINE HAS THE PROGRESSIVE CAPABILITY IF NOT >>>YOUR OUT OF LUCK <<<
BUT AS FAR AS JUST PLUGGING IN A DISPLAY >>NO<< YOU NEED A CONTROLLER WITH A MIKOHN DISPLAY TO MAKE IT WORK
A COMPLETE SCHEMATIC IS ON THE  UNIDESA MANUAL WITH PICTURES OF A MIKOHN  DISPLAY
AND MIKOHN CONTROLLER HOOKED UP TO MACHINE IN TOP CABINET
HOPE THIS HELPS

Hello "Rocket", thanks for the quick help!
I have checked the options and it is possible to set "OWN / MIKOHN" Progressive. I have programmed the own jackpot and it works fine.   There is now a Mikohn-like Display in the Monitor. So good for now.  But isn´t it so, that when i select "Mikohn" instead of "Own" that i can connect a mikohn display (i mean display + mikohn controller [cham2] ) to the machine??? Or did i need a special controller from unidesa??.... In the manual it seems so... I have a game maker at home; here it is no problem; i wire 2 cables from a connector on the backplane board of the game maker to the cham2 and it works. Isn´t there such a connector inside the unidesa  as well???  Thanks a lot!

Hi,

Quick question, what is the voltage of the battery on the ChamII+ board?

I finally got my monitor back from the repair guy with the new cap kit fitted and all I got was a black 'Call Attendant' screen as 'Low Battery', I've changed that on the PE+, but now the Mikohn ones gone too

Thanks
